MATCH REPORTS 2009/10
28 April 2010 - Home to Belper Town Juniors
We entertained Belper for the last game of the season having already won the championsip and able to play with no pressure was great. I made some changes and continued to swap players throughout as some of the lads had an important game the following evening. We went into a 2-0 lead with a great cross form jamie which found the back of the net and a headed goal by Lewis from a corner. As usual Belper wouldn't lay down and found 2 goals to equalise. The best was still to come and what a way to round off an unbeaten season.Mitch Worker came up for a corner with just 2 minutes to go and found the winner with a great header from just inside the box.
26 April 2010 - Away to Sherwin
CHAMPIONS
At last and boy do we deserve it,still unbeaten and champions with a game to
spare. Total domination from start to finish saw us comfortable winners against
last year's champios (ironic isn't it). Our gols were scored by Rhoadri 2, Olly
1 and Alex 1. Had it not been for an in form Sherwin keeper we could have hit
double figures. The champagne flowed at the end of the game and everyone gave
a huge sigh of releif as we finally clinched the title. A tremendous season
and still undefeated brilliant lads well done.
24 April 2010 - Away to Duffield Dynamo
Back to normal with a good win at Duffield. Alex Beresford scored our opener after just 7 seconds and we never looked back. Further goals from Rhoadri 2, James 2, and Olly 1 rounded the day off. This leaves us 1 point behind Chellaston with 2 to play and Chellaston can do nothing about it as their fixtures have finised so a win at Sherwin on Monday will see us CHAMPIONS WITH A GAME TO SPARE.
17 April 2010 - Away to Pride Park - Challenge Trophy Final
We went into the final as strong favourites and rightly so but with injuries and 2 players stranded abroad the game was levelled up slightly. We created more chances and had more posession but Pride Park created some good chances of their own and I think we could have played for a fortnight and still been locked at 0-0. In the end we under performed and Pride Park sensed it and raised their game to earn a creditable victory on penalties.

March 2010 - Home to Chesapeake
This
was a very disapointing result as we went 2 up at half time with 2 great goals, the
first an Olly Bowler special from 25 yards and the second a good finish from
close range by James Pearce after a great flowing move. We took our foot off
the gas in the second half and conceded 2 really sloppy goals not an ideal time
to drop 2 points when you are going for the championship. I will add that in
my eyes Chesapeake were the best team we have played this season and feel that
with a few signings will be the team to challenge us next season.
27 March 2010 - Home to Chellaston Boys
Another hard fought encounter against a strong Chellaston side. We had to re shuffle the line up a little with Alex breaking his collar bone and it took us a little while to adjust and went behind to a well taken chellaston goal. It seemed to wake us up and start to enjoy a lot of possession and were rewarded when James Pearce scored on the stroke of half time after brilliant work and a great cross from his strike partner Rhoadri. We had to soak up a lot of pressure in the second half as Chellaston adopted the long ball approach but we stood firm and man of the match was goalkeeper Charlie Sheppard for being strong and dominant when it mattered. This result means the CHAMPIONSHIP is ours to lose now. Come on TOTON LETS BRING IT HOME.
20 March 2010 - Away to Codnor Boys
Total domination, lots of possession and numerous shots on goal saw us run out easy winners. We went in 4-0 up at half time with goals from James Pearce 2, Rhoadri Meades 1 and Lewis Bonsell 1. Not back to our best yet but certainly a vast improvement on the last 3 or 4 games. A win against Chellaston next week will almost certainly give us the championship as games are running out. Well done and come with the same attitude next week.
13 March 2010 - Home to Chellaston Boys Cavaliers
We went in front on just 10 seconds with another Rhoadri Meades strike and went 2 up with a well taken Alex Beresford goal. We have to put these games to bed but yet again we started trying to play fancy football and although we controlled the game from start to finish there were a few short nails by the end. If there is a false position in the league it is Cavaliers, no way do they deserve to be bottom with battling performances like that.
6 March 2010 - Away to Chellaston Boys
Not a game of many chances as the importance of the result seemed to be on all the players minds. We went into the game knowing that realistically Chellaston had to beat us twice to have a chance of winning the title so in one way it was a better draw for us than them but it was gutting to concede an equaliser with the last kick of the game having led for such a long time and really controlling the game for long periods. This leaves us only 4 points behind with 3 games in hand so if we keep our discipline and play the football we are capable of we will hopefully see it through. Our goalscorer was James Pearce and man of the match went to Matty Whittle and Amran Nagra. Good solid performance lads keep it up.
20 February 2010 - Away to Belper Town Juniors
Another tough one and credit to Belper, they have proved why they are in the top 2 with another good performance. We went behind twice before a good 20 minute spell in the second half saw us run out 4-2 winners. Our goals came from a super volley from Olly Bowler and a brilliant hat trick from Rhoadri Meaded. We certainly weren't at our best again but still came up with the goods when it mattered.
13 February 2010 - Away to Belper Town - Challenge Trophy Semi Final
This was definitely not a classic and certainly not what we expected. On a heavy pitch we took control of the opening 10 minutes and to be fair it looked as though we were in for an easy ride but Belper had different ideas and forced 2 excellent 1 on 1 saves from Charlie Sheppard. The game was a good scrap without many opportunities and we took the lead before half time with a goal from James Pearce but Belper forced extra time from the penalty spot. Unlike last week it was our turn to burst into life and we totally dominated the extra time period and a Rhoadri Meades strike took us into the final. Man of the match went to Charlie Sheppard.
6 February 2010 - Away to Hucknall Sports - FA Shield
Talk about unlucky, we went to unbeaten Hucknall and certainly gave a good account of ourselves. In a first half of few chances we held our own to go in at 0-0. Hucknall went in front 5 minutes into the second half pouncing on a rebound in the six yard box. It took us a further 10 minutes to find our feet and we equalised with 10 minutes to go with a superb solo effort from James Pearce as he took on 2 defenders to score from a near impossible angle. Heartache was just around the corner as we were awarded a penalty in the last minute but it was well saved by the Hucknall keeper, we had missed our chance and they took this opportunity to raise their game and progress to the final. I now know that we can compete with the best and am so proud of the squad. Let's go on and win this weeks semi at Belper and move on. Man of the match went to Alex Beresford.
30 January 2010 - Home to Woodhouse Colts - FA Shield
Not a difficult game by all accounts and we had 90% of the play and cut them down to 1 solitary shot. We were a little rusty to say the least but then we haven't kicked a ball for 7 weeks. This sets up a semi final against a very good Hucknall Sports side. Well done today lads. Man of the match went to Lewis Bonsell who just seems to get better and better.
12 December 2009 - Away to Stanton Ilkeston - Challenge Trophy
We raced into a 5-0 lead within 15 minutes and even moving players around didn't seem to hinder us. It was a good all round performance and the goals were spread all over the squad. This puts us into the semi-final and in with our first realistic chance of some silverware which will be more than you deserve. Great today lads keep it up at Duffield next week.
5 December 2009 - Away to Ollerton Town - FA Shield
A good solid performance today boys and although we didn't play with our normal flair and pace Ollerton were never a threat. We led 2-0 at half time with goals from Rhoadri Meades and George Griffiths. Our second half goals came from James Pearce and Alex Beresford. Man of the match goes to the whole squad today and welcome back Matty who played 25 minutes having missed our last 6 fixtures due to injury.
21 November 2009 - Away to Allestree Juniors
Another good performance keeps the wheels on the Toton bus for 1 more week at least and we totally outplayed the hosts from start to finish. Even with 3 absentees and having to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men due to injuries we still produced the goods. Lets make sure we keep our feet on the ground and maybe the target of league and cup double can be achieved. Yet again well done lads to go 11 unbeaten.
14 November 2009 - Home to Pride Park Juniors
Our best performance so far and as I have been saying someone was in for a hiding and unfortunately for Pride Park it was them. The first 10 minutes was a good contest and we went behind after 4 minutes but were in front after 8 and never looked back. The football was superb and we went in 4-1 up at the break. The second half was even better and although we got 4 more to run out 8-1 winners it could have been a lot more. Man of the match went to Myles Smith for some excellent good old fashioned wing play. Back on top well done lads you are there because you deserve to be.
7 November 2009 - Away to Tuxford - FA Shield
We didn't play well today but ground out a 2-1 win on what can only be described as a very very small pitch. The home side went in front after 2 minutes and we soon equalised when a Rhoadri Meades cross went in off a Tuxford defender. Rhoadri then put us in front with a far post header from a Myles Smith cross. We had numerous chances to put them to bed but the woodwork and some fine goalkeeping kept us at bay. motm went to Frazer Knight.
21 October 2009 - Away to Duffield Dynamo United - Challenge Trophy
I won't go into detail but the scorers were James Pearce 6, Alex Beresford 3, Rhoadri Meades, Jamie Woodward, Mitchell Worker and Frazer Knight all got 2 each whilst Olly Bowler, Nathan Topps and Myles Smith all got 1 each. As you can see we had 9 different goalscorers and the most pleasing for me were the 2 goals for Mitchell who earnt himself motm with his 1st goals for the club. Well done again lads.
23 October 2009 - Away to Pride Park Juniors
As always Pride Park always give a good account of themselves and today was no exception. The conditions weren't easy and we went in 1-0 up at half time thanks to a good header by Lewis Bonsell from an Alex Beresford corner all be it against the run of play. The second half was a different story and we soon went 2 up with a good strike from 25 yards by Olly Bowler. A 3rd was disallowed for what reason I don't know and decisions started to go against us. Another strange decision gifted Pride Park their goal but it was too little too late and yet again we took all 3 points to stay top.
17 October 2009 - Home to Sherwin
Last years champions came to Toton on the back of 4 straight wins and sitting just behind us in 2nd place. Both teams started well and could have had a couple of goals each it was Sherwin who went in 1-0 up at the break. The second half was a really gritty performance and with 2 players injured and 5 recovering from flu we still got the win with 2 great goals from Olly Bowler and Alex Beresford. MOTM went to our captain Jamie Woodward who has played out of position all season at sweeper but is doing a fantastic job. Still top boys keep it up.
3 October 2009 - Home to Home to Duffield Dynamo
Not the prettiest game to watch but yet again we dominated from start to finish and Charlie only had 1 save to make in 70 minutes. We started brightly and raced into a 2-0 lead and I thought the flood gates were going to open but credit to Duffield they weathered the storm and the wind to keep the final score to 3-0. Everyone is now playing catch-up as we are top by 4 points and still unbeaten.
26 September 2009 - Home to Codnor Boys
A JOB WELL DONE. From the1st whistle we were in complete control of this one and keep our position at the top of the table. Again some of the football and link up play were superb and Codnor had no answer for it in fact you could probably count on one hand the amount of attacks we had to deal with. Our goalscorers were a Rhoadry Meades hat-trick, Alex Beresford 2 and James Pearce 1. Motm went to 3 players this week and they were Jamie, Lewis and Rhoadry.
19 September 2009 - Away to Chellaston Boys Cavaliers
Talk about making life hard work we got what we deserved in the 1st half going in 2-0 down because of an all round sloppy performance. A stern half time team talk and a couple of changes saw us totally dominate the second half and win the game 3-2. Had it not been for a string of fine saves we could have had 7 or 8. Goal scorers were Myles Smith 2 and Nathan Topps 1. MOTM went to Nathan Topps who was back to his best.
12 September 2009 - Away to Chesapeake
Frustrating to say the least. We enjoyed large amounts of posossion and created 6 or 7 really good chances but couldn't find the net. A goal from Myles Smith looked to have sealed all 3 points but Chesapeake found an equaliser 30 seconds later. Make no bones about it this was a good draw and they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Man of the match Jamie Woodward.
5 September 2009 - Home to Allestree Juniors
Pre season went really well and we had some great results and a tournament win and 3 semis. Before today we had gone 335 minutes without conceding a goal in open play and today made it 405 with a brilliant display against Allestree. Total domination in the first half deserved more than a 1-0 scoreline and had it not been for the Allestree keeper it could have been 5 or 6. In the second half our football was superb and the visitors could not cope with the pressure and it ended 7-0. Goal scorers were James Pearce 3, Olly Bowler 2, Rhoadri Meads 1, Jamie Woodward 1, motm went to the whole squad. Great start to our new campaign lets keep it up at Chesapeake next week.
